October 1, 2010 Merry-Go-Round
One of the things I love about our small town is that a lot of the parks have equipment that was around when I was a kid. Now-a-days it seems like all the equipment is plastic and produces an over abundance of static. It still gets hot in the summer (mind you not nearly as hot as the metal slides), but those metal slides were fast. They also had all kinds of tall climbing bars, and sand boxes- of course.
The one thing I miss the most is (you guessed it). . .the Merry-Go-Round.
First- you would all work together to push it around.
Then one by one, we would jump on.
The kid who was the fastest would jump on last.
We would try to stand up without holding on, move from place to place, and even sit on the bars holding on with our feet and lean back as far as we could.
By the time it stopped spinning around, we were so dizzy and sick, but we would jump off and do it all over again.
Yes-those were the good ol’ days!
